The whole area is filled with weird looking magical experiments. The dungeon is working in and out of the Institute and the connecting sewers. Institute of Magical Inquiry – I liked the layout here. I missed calling it out last post but Battle with Those We Must Face is another Asterisk boss theme and it’s been getting stuck in my head a lot. ***** SPOILERS THROUGHOUT REST OF POST ***** Never been a fan of Jump (jump off screen to deliver a powerful attack after a delay) but BD2 Dragoon has the Sky High passive to begin combat mid-jump. Went with Shieldmaster for a bit and got Fast Hands. Monk abilities synergize with pretty much any physical class. Never heard of Berserker synergizing well with mage but it’s been working pretty well.Īdelle – Still a physical destroyer. Berserker’s base Magic isn’t bad and the Chronos Glaive had the highest Magic of all my equipment. Like Octopath Traveler, BD2 has lots of weapons that boost Magic as well as physical Attack. Imagine my surprise when that ended up being Berserker. After that I looked for a class with decent Magic Attack. Then I put her in Salve-Maker which I struggle to use properly but could come in handy someday.Įlvis – Went Red Mage which had good synergy and Revenge. Red Mage gave some tiny offense but most importantly Revenge. I’ve seen it regarded as a meme in the community already. And that’s without counting it does follow up damage about a round later. Does more damage than anything else I have so far for a high MP cost. He also got Godspeed Strike from Thief which is a boss killer. Then I sent him to Swordmaster which can get extra attacks as mentioned above. Ranger had great attack power with bows and Barrage (do more damage per successive action in turn). Beastmaster gave Raw Power (passive that ups physical damage the more you Brave in a turn). Seth – Went from odd jobs to a rapid fire specialist.
BRAVELY DEFAULT 2 GALAHAD UPDATE
Party Update Beserker-Mage, an unstoppable force Also the first class in the game to make me equip swords it’s rare for a jRPG to take so long to favor swords. I struggle to use counters but Solid Stance (standard physicals now fire twice per action) is pretty awesome. Swordmaster – A mix of BD’s past Swordmaster (lots of counters) and Fencer (adopt stances which give bonuses) classes. I put this on Adelle and she’s been a speed demon ever since. Also gets the passive Fast Hands where any speed penalties from equipment held in the hands become bonuses instead. I always struggle with defend-others skills because I’d rather be doing damage but they have their uses. Shieldmaster – Has stats and skills for tanking and protecting others. Finally, it still has Revenge from past BD’s, a great passive where the unit has a 25% chance of gaining 1 BP upon taking damage. Instead of White Mage’s Cure they get Heal, which restores a set amount of HP and thus synergizes well with classes that don’t have high Restorative Power. They get wind and earth magic which Black Mage doesn’t. But they’d fall off in a hurry as they miss out on the most powerful stuff of all three. RM’s in past BD and FF’s had a problem where they’d start really good, being an amazing combo of White Mage, Black Mage, and warrior.

Red Mage – Love what they did with RM here. This is helping me to try out a variety of jobs instead of sticking to two each. Compare this to other BD games or even Final Fantasy where job mastery is a lategame thing. Through Chapter 2 I already have each character with two or three jobs mastered.

Launch some attacks at a foe and watch them do 0 damage because they’re immune to spears.Ī surprising change for BD2 is that classes are pretty quick to master. Add to this that enemies are weak/resistant to not just elements but also to weapon types and it gets frustrating. Problem is it doesn’t show resistances or immunities. You can get enemy data such as HP and weaknesses by using a cheap-to-purchase Magnifying Glass.

Even worse, other enemies on the map remain after a battle so if you get into a fight and there’s another close by you better remember that or you’re going right back in. Dungeons tend to have open and cramped spaces and in the cramped ones prepare for a gauntlet. Particularly annoying in cramped corridors.īD2 is hit or miss on this. As I wrote there, I’m sometimes annoyed by this system if I feel like I’m constantly pulled into battles anyway. BD2 has enemies on the world and dungeon maps that pull you into combat, similar to the Dragon Quest VII remake.
